NUTRITION IN PLANTS

Plants make their own food by using simple inorganic materials like CO₂ and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.

CONDITIONS NECESSARY FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS

The various conditions for photo synthesis are:-

(i) Carbon dioxide

(ii) Water

(iii) Sunlight

(iv) Chlorophyll

STEPS FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS

The process photosynthesis takes place in the following steps:-

1. Absorption of sunlight by the chlorophyll present in the leaves of plants.
2. Conversion of light energy into chemical energy and splitting of water molecule into H₂and O₂ by light energy.
3. Reduction of CO₂ by water to form carbohydrates
