NUTRITION IN PLANTS

Plants make their own food by using simple inorganic materials like CO2 and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.

CONDITIONS NECESSARY FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS

The various conditions for photo synthesis are:-

(i) Carbon dioxide

(ii) Water

(iii) Sunlight

(iv) Chlorophyll

STEPS FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS

The process photosynthesis takes place in the following steps:-

  1. Absorption of sunlight by the chlorophyll present in the leaves of plants.
  2. Conversion of light energy into chemical energy and splitting of water molecule into H2and O2 by light energy.
  3. Reduction of CO2 by water to form carbohydrates
